Beth Dangerfield, B.Ed., OCT, (She/Her)

Beth is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with additional qualifications and training in special education and teaching English as a second language. Beth specializes in Direct Instruction with a specific emphasis on early reading and math remediation to children with a variety of exceptional needs including Learning Disabilities (LD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Beth received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Wilfrid Laurier University and her Bachelor of Education from York University.

Beth co-founded Flourish on Queen with Marie Hooper in July 2021.  Flourish grew from Marie and Beth’s strong desire to create a space in the east end of Toronto where families would find evidence-based assessment and intervention while receiving highly personalized care. Currently Beth’s focus is education services. She brings her teaching and learning experience to the team in different ways including oversight and management of all Direct Instruction programming  through her company Spark Education Services and co-facilitation of our Unstuck and On Target Executive Functioning Group .

Outside of her work at Flourish Beth volunteers her time to represent the Center for ADHD Awareness, Canada (CADDAC) on the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) for the Toronto District School Board.  Beth is also a member of the Family as Faculty group at Holland Bloorview Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital where she is a trained family facilitator in the areas of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), patient and family-centered care and family engagement in research. Beth’s community interests include mental health, period poverty and food security initiatives. She is proud to be the 2019 recipient of the Patient and Family Leadership Award from Children’s Healthcare Canada.

Beth's approach to all her work in education is creative, strengths-based, and family-centered. She believes in nurturing self-confidence and self-love in each young person she works with.  Beth is committed to lifelong learning when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion in education, specifically within the Canadian context.

Beth is an avid home cook and aspiring baker. In 2021, she competed on the Food Network Canada cooking show, Wall of Chefs, and tied for first place! Beth, along with her husband Chris, are proud parents to an incredible daughter, Abby. Abby is smart, kind, funny and energetic and she also lives with an extremely rare genetic metabolic disease and other exceptional needs.
