Cathleen Byrne, B.A., M.S.W. Student (they/them)

Cathleen’s (they/them) professional area of interest is supporting the mental health and well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and communities. They hold a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Victoria and are pursuing an M.S.W at the University of Toronto. As a former Youth Support Worker and Transitional Housing Case Manager, Cathleen brings an in-depth knowledge of the systemic and social barriers faced by queer and trans folx. Working primarily with women and gender diverse individuals, Cathleen is dedicated to a provision of care attuned to intersectional and overlapping challenges.

Cathleen views clinical practice in a holistic, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed manner. Employing principles of collective well-being and community care, they approach client relations in a collaborative and person-centered way. Engaging with gender and sexuality-affirming frameworks, Cathleen accounts for lived and evolving experiences. Cathleen’s expertise lies in the support of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth seeking support regarding mental health or substance use. 

Outside of Flourish, Cathleen enjoys reading, cooking, and crochet. They’re also an avid supporter of the local ballroom and drag scene!
