Taylor Alves, B.A. (She/Her)
Taylor is a dedicated Report Writer who joined the Flourish team in the Fall of 2024 as part of our psychology and administrative staff. She plays a key role in helping clients and families understand the comprehensive assessments conducted by our team, distilling complex findings into detailed reports that highlight individual strengths and identify areas for future support. Taylor also maintains ongoing communication with clients and their families throughout the assessment process. Although her role is often “behind the scenes,” she takes great pride in being an integral member of the Flourish family.
Taylor holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Specialized Honours degree in Psychology from York University, with concentrations in Child and Youth Development and Counselling. She is an incoming Master of Education (MEd) student in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), set to begin her graduate studies in Fall 2025.
Passionate about mental health, Taylor has contributed to organizations such as SickKids, Kids Help Phone, and the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) throughout her academic journey. She has a keen interest in counselling, adolescent mental wellness, and school psychology, particularly the risk and protective factors that influence youth development. Taylor is also deeply interested in neurodiversity and its impact on education and daily life. For her Honours Thesis, she researched the effects of COVID-19 on neurodivergent university students, aiming to bridge gaps in campus support services.
Taylor’s exceptional written communication skills allow her to summarize complex information into clear, accessible reports. She always takes a strengths-based, holistic approach, focusing on each client’s unique abilities and potential and fostering a positive, inclusive mindset. Taylor is deeply committed to inclusivity and empowerment, believing that every person deserves support and can flourish with the right resources. Her passion for mental health advocacy is reflected in her volunteer and research experiences, which demonstrate her dedication to supporting youth and neurodivergent individuals. She is proud to be part of a team that shares her values and commitment to empowering clients.
Outside of work and volunteering, Taylor enjoys watching documentaries, spending time with family and friends, drinking iced coffee year-round, and relaxing with her beloved cat, Stella.
