Abina Chandra, B.A.Sc. (She/Her)
Abina completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition and Food at Toronto Metropolitan University. Although Abina initially took psychology courses to support her future profession in dietetics, she found those classes to be the times that she felt most ‘alive’; constantly curious, asking questions, and making connections to her own experiences.
She has worked in diverse pediatric environments, where she has served as a leader, mentor, and positive role model. As an Inclusion Counsellor at the City of Markham, she has worked with young campers with special needs, supporting them to ensure they have a positive and memorable experience at camp. These theoretical and field experiences encouraged Abina to revisit her strengths and interests, and eventually reroute her career goals. Her interests in working with children, understanding behaviour, and working with data inspire her to become a psychometrist.
At Flourish Health Services, Abina works with like-minded peers to ensure the daily operations of the clinic run smoothly. She strives to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young clients and their families by providing a safe and welcoming environment.
In her downtime, Abina loves to play badminton, ride her bike, and walk on her treadmill – all of which help her stay active!
