Dr. Shabnam Paiwand, Ed.D., O.C.T., C. Psych. (She/Her)
Dr. Shabnam Paiwand is a registered Clinical and School Psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. She has spent much of her career working with children, adolescents, families, and schools, bringing a unique background that bridges education and psychology.
Shabnam began her academic training at the University of Toronto, where she completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She later completed her Bachelor of Education at York University, followed by a Master of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary. Shabnam returned to the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), where she completed her Doctor of Education in Counselling and School Psychology.
Before becoming a psychologist, Shabnam trained and worked as an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), including experience teaching in an elementary school classroom. Her background as an educator continues to shape the way she approaches her work today. Having experience on both sides of the school system, as a teacher and as a psychologist, has given her an appreciation for the day-to-day demands children face in the classroom and the importance of recommendations that are not only evidence-based, but also practical and realistic for teachers and families to implement.
Outside of her work, Shabnam enjoys travelling, discovering new restaurants, and spending time outdoors, particularly hiking.
