Room To Be

An affirming drop-in community group for 2SLGBTQIA+ and questioning youth in Grades 6–12

Hosted at Flourish Health Services, Room to Be offers youth a welcoming place to spend time with peers, build meaningful relationships, explore who they are, and participate in activities and conversations at their own pace.

There is no expectation to show up in a particular way. Youth can join in, take a break, spend time in a quieter part of the space, participate in an activity, or simply hang out. Participation is always voluntary, and no referral, diagnosis, or commitment to ongoing attendance is required.

What to Expect

Each Room to Be session combines predictable structure with plenty of flexibility.

The first part of the evening is a soft start, giving youth time to arrive, settle in, grab a snack, visit the quiet space, craft, play a game, or connect with others.

From there, the group will come together for a casual, low-pressure check-in and an introduction to the theme of the week. We’ll explore topics such as identity, self-expression, confidence, community, and belonging.

The remainder of the session is focused on social connection and choice, with opportunities for games, crafts, conversation, activities, and time together.
